Frequently asked questions.

Visa & Recognition

Is recognition required for all healthcare roles?
Yes, recognition (Anerkennung) is required for most regulated healthcare professions in Germany, such as nurses, midwives, physiotherapists, radiology technicians, and laboratory assistants.

For support roles like nursing assistants (Pflegehelfer) or healthcare aides, recognition is not required. However, salaries are lower and career opportunities are limited compared to fully recognized professionals.

How long does the visa process take?
On average 2–4 months, depending on the consulate’s workload and completeness of your documents.

Who pays for visa and recognition costs?
Some employers cover these costs, while in other cases the candidate pays. We will provide you with full transparency from the beginning.

What level of German is required?
You can start your recognition application with B1 German.
However, in order to receive your recognition and start working as a registered nurse in Germany, you must have B2 German.

Salary & Benefits

How much will I earn?
“With partial recognition, salaries for healthcare professionals usually start around €2,000–2,300 per month. After obtaining full recognition in your profession, salaries typically increase to €3,000–3,400 per month or higher, depending on your role, experience, and location

When will my salary increase?
“Your salary will increase once you obtain full recognition in your profession. After recognition, you will be employed under the official title (e.g., nurse, physiotherapist, radiology technician, midwife) and your salary will be adjusted accordingly. The exact increase depends on your role, level of experience, and the region in Germany where you work.”

Accommodation & Living

Is accommodation provided?
This depends on the employer. Some institutions provide temporary accommodation for the first few months, while others only assist with finding housing.

Job Content

In which areas can I work?
Opportunities include hospital nursing, clinics, intensive care, elderly home care, and other specialized fields, depending on the employer’s needs.

What if my German language skills are not sufficient?
We offer partner language courses for candidates who do not yet have the required level. Full recognition requires at least B2 level German.
